Mariam Hovhannisyan, a Staff Accountant, started with The Hechtman Group as a tax intern and was promoted to staff accountant in 2024. In this role, Mariam prepares tax returns for various entities, including individuals, trusts, and corporations.
Mariam is originally from Kapan in the Syunik Region of Armenia, where she completed her early education. She was later accepted into UWC Changshu China, an international high school, where she studied alongside peers from around the globe. Mariam pursued her passion for economics by earning a BA in Economics and Quantitative Econometrics from Lake Forest College in Illinois. Her professional journey includes interning in wealth management at Northwestern Mutual and tutoring Math and Economics at her alma mater.
Mariam was drawn to The Hechtman Group by its supportive, team-oriented, and client-focused culture, where she feels truly valued. She appreciates the continuous learning opportunities in the accounting field and is inspired by the diverse and growth-oriented projects she gets to work on every day.
Outside of work, Mariam enjoys hiking and rock climbing and has a keen interest in researching the history and symbolism of Armenian rugs. Fluent in three languages, she also has a deep connection to her homeland, frequently traveling back to explore its ancient historic sites surrounded by breathtaking nature. Her favorite advice is, “The best investment you can make is the investment in you,” a principle she lives by in her personal and professional life.
